Tidbit Tuesday

Been fighting a bug that’s been going around for the past few days so don’t have much news or information from a photography perspective to share.  On a personal note, I finally caved in and got an iPod for listening to the spate of podcasts that I enjoy during my daily commutes.  The playback, interface, and storage capacity makes for a world of difference.  For those that are interested in which iPod, I put together a little YouTube video to show the “unboxing”:

Enjoy and Happy Shooting!  We’ll see you back here tomorrow (when I’ll hopefully have a podcast ready for all…)

Long Weekends Rule!

A long weekend is always a good thing.  When you combine that with the ability to literally “get away from it all”, they are even better.  I had the great fortune of being able to secure an idyllic getaway cabin in the mountains of Colorado over this last weekend.  We were quite literally cut off from the world with no cell phones, no internet – nada!

It was quite refreshing to be honest, and is due, in no small part to the lack of a post at all yesterday.  (I did get back in time to cobble one together, but rather chose to bask in the last few hours of what was truly a wonderful holiday weekend, Hallmark though it was!)

Of course, I did take the camera with me, and will have many to share over the course of the next few weeks as I post process things, and filter out the keepers.  So, for today let’s just leave things where they are.  Rest assured though, I am “back in the saddle”, and will hopefully have the weekly podcast up for your listening pleasure tomorrow!

Happy shooting and we’ll see you back here bright and early!

Just another manic Monday

You know I had to do it eventually…

Although, this week it could not be more true…I was on the first item of a “honey-do” list yesterday, upgrading the thermostat, and could not get things reconnected.  Since it was a Sunday at 7pm the odds of getting an HVAC tech out was just not an option.  As the temperature went up throughout the house, it had similar effects on my processing…I actually had to shut dwon after a thermal warning from the main PC.  So, today after work, I had an HVAC tech out to fix the A/C, and resumed my post processing.  With another 200 or so shots to go through for the shoots that I have CD’s due for tomorrow.  With the evening meal behind me and an early start tomorrow, I really am not going to have time for a regular post  today, so to catch up on the news, stop over to Jason Moore‘s site for the latest in the last week.

If the blog links are not your style, some excellent reading fodder can also be found over at The Online Photographer – there actually was an excellent article there over the weekend that talks about the increasing use of advertorials in magazines.  Very similar to the idea I talked about recently that the “fluff” in magazines is starting to out-weigh the content.

As always, enjoy the week, and don’t forget to trip that shutter occasionally – happy shooting, watch those apertures, and we’ll see you tomorrow!

Ta da!!!

As I move forward on getting the administrative features under control, a few posts are necessary to set up the blog and get the look and feel down to where I like it.  As a one-man operation, this may take some time so please be patient.  First, an introduction and a little background on who I am, what the blog is, and where it may go…

My name is Jason Anderson and I am an IT professional working in the (currently) very hot and humid state of South Carolina.  With Charleston as the largest recognizable community nearby, you could call me a “Lowcountry Resident.”  Since the IT industry is not prone to a lot of creative expression, I have endeavored to find creative venues to express myself, and to find others like me that share a passion for both logic, and…well, passion!

This web log is the conclusion of the realization that I needed a venue to express and share personal thoughts, ideas, and experiences with the online community.  Most often, this will be photographic in nature.  However, I may occasionally wax philosophic, plug sites I find interesting, and sometimes simply offer viewers and readers the mumblings and ramblings of an IT pro as I weave my way through a decidedly creative and sometimes less-than-logical world of artistic expression!
